Education equals freedom. We’ve talked about it before. Some of us learn visually, some of us learn by listening, and some of us learn by doing. There is a way education has become an elite proposition for salons and hairdressers that can sell products in exchange for education. We all need to inspire each other; we can bring free education readily available through online education.
The industry leaders below realize a host of hairstylists missing out on education who thirst for learning more and need easy access to education. The list contains five excellent podcasts that will inspire your business strategies, whether you are an independent within a salon, an employee, or a salon owner. These digital learning hubs are full of great social media lessons, customer service recommendations, business strategies, advice, and shared experiences.
In the fall of 2014, the medium of podcasting achieved a milestone moment. The podcast Serial – which reinvestigated the 1999 murder of Maryland high school student Hae Min Lee – became the fastest podcast to reach 5 million streams or downloads in iTunes history. Although the success of Serial – a spinoff of WBEZ’s This American Life – clearly represented a new peak in the popularity of podcasts, Pew Research Center data show that the medium has, in fact, been steadily growing its audience over the past two years. Advances in technology – in particular, the rapid growth in use of smartphones and mobile devices in addition to the increased ease of in-car listening – have contributed to the uptick of interest in podcasts.
Podcasts are a huge and steadily growing category of how people receive information. So, why not hairstylists?
